It amazes me AOL is still in business..

I install AOL quickly to check something on their services, and when I check my safe uninstalled, I find at least 12 peices of crap installed by the AOL services. All I wanted was their main application installed!

I wonder how many average joes even know what AOL puts on their machine?

Unfortunately, their advertising sends the message that if you don't have Always Off Line, you won't be able to get email or surf the web safely etc. In other words, they lie like crazy and the newbies eat it up.

I would rather cut off a finger than install anything from aol or netzero.

You should check your favorites... I bet you will find stuff there that was not there before.

I wrote a program a few years back that got rid of nearly everything they would install on your system. Even then it was amazing how much junk they would install and hide away in places. I can't think about how much of that they must do now.

I think I would cut my finger off too.

I remember when my mom had an aol account and she was trying to get rid of it. I had to get on the phone and pretty much yell at them to cancel the account. I think she spent over three hours on hold over the few times she had to call to get it canceled. That is about the only reason a company like that is in business.

Im with them, never speak to technical support but when you do you might aswell speak to a brick wall.

Just got a free router and free 8MB ADSL for 2 months heheheh. Told them I wanted to cancel and they just handed it over. GOD.... They must be desperate. It was a Netgeard DG834 aswell, already got one but they dont know that hehehe.

Support 0/10
Network 7/10
Cancellation Team 10/10

AOHELL was actually something different (anyone remember that, LOL!).

I heard rumors that AOL might go free for BYOB, with advertising as support. Has anyone else heard this?
