Computer is going really slow lately.

I am wondering the best way to check for virues, trojans, and spyware? I have heard these can be a big problem.

There are so many programs out there, what is the best one to use?

Thanks.

How often do you run a virus scan? If you don't have protection AVG from www.grisoft.com is a good one for starters.

I'd start with HijackThis. If you have spyware or hijackers, this will probably find them. Second the recommendation for AVG antivirus. Good stuff.

if u are a geek, then there is nothing to use.

1. I donot use any Antivirus

2. No firewalls or nothing.

The best way to protect your system is

1. Use Firefox

2. Donot go to sites which are not trusted, i go but i know how to get away from Trojans that are sent to my system.

see it al depends upon on how you use your system wisely

Uhhh....not to be rude or anything, but not being behind a firewall doesn't make you a geek. It makes you an idiot. Firewalls aren't made for just the beginner user who doesn't know what they're getting into. Even geeks screw up once in awhile. I don't, however, have Anti-Virus...I haven't had a virus problem for as long as I can remember.

I used WinTasks 5.0 to delete some of the processes that started when my laptop boots up. Give that a go , there's a 30 day trial

Who said, even with firewalls your system is hackable, a elite hackers know how to break the firewall and leave away without any logs being traced.

Spechackers,

If you have a firewall with ALL ports closed and if you have set it so that you cannot control it from outside of your internal LAN, then there is basically no way that a hacker can get in.
