Downgrading MySQL Ver 5.0.18 to MySQL Ver 4.1.x

Hello Freinds,

I wonder, if anyone has any tutorial on How to Downgrade the MySQL version 5.0.18 to MySQL Verion 4.1.x

While downgrading from WHM is directly not possible...!!

As some of the scripts like... INVISION POWER BOARD and others are not yet compatible with the latest MySQL release.

I have upgraded on my server, But eventually my IPB Clients are facing huge SQL Problems, and resulting what SQL is getting spikes.

I also wonder, if the Downgrade will effect SQL Databases by anymeans.

Looking forward for your suugestions and supports.

Kind Regards
Deepak K Rana

On Windows we just stop MySQL and replace the program files ( zip installer )which does the trick. May be you can try something same on your Linux Machine.

Thanks,

Hiyas,

Well I don't think cPanel recommends this, but if you change
mysql-version=5.0
to
mysql-version=4.1
in the /var/cpanel/cpanel.config and then run /scripts/mysqlup
It should automatically downgrade. You might consider making a backup of /var/lib/mysql before you try that though, since I don't know if the db formats are exactly compatible.
