I would require a little advice.

Hello everyone , i'm posting in here with the scope to get a recommendation about a hardware choise .

I will be required to get a dedicated server ( my website has arround 2k unique visitors per day and all stored data are made on mssql 2005 - arround 45k account's ) .

I must chose one of the next hardware :

Intel Pentium D 920
2 x 2.8GHz Processors
2 x 2MB Cache
1GB ECC DDRII 677 RAM

or

AMD Opteron 165

2 x 1.8GHz Processors
2 x 1MB Cache
1GB ECC DDR 400 RAM

Personaly i had in mind that the Intel should be much better than one AMD box , as personaly i never did like AMD ( i'm one Intel fan ) , but before placeing my order for one of the server i really want to ask some experts in here that can recommend me witch would be better to chose and if possible some reasons why(just to help me understand and to gather some knowledge).

Thank you in advance , and waiting for some reply's about .
PS: Sorry for the bad english , as im from RO.

You can go with less, this is overkill in my opinion for a 2K uniques per month, but if I had to choose I would go with the P4 D

The pentium gives you the larger cache, double the AMD which is fairly important when it comes to DB applications

So far looks that the best choose would be the P4 D . Any other opinions ?
