Equinix Chicago

Don't know if this is the proper forum for this however...

We would like to pick up a rack in the Equinix DC from Internap. As our company currently uses only managed dedicated servers, buying the rack is a big step. We would prefer to contract "hands on" as well as complete management from an outside suppier.

There appear to be many fine server management companies like Rack911 or ServerWizards but, we are looking for a more robust service.

Recommendations? (We would also consider providing some space in our rack in exchange for services.)

Thanks in advance for any help.

Webellian.

Hmm..if you like InterNAP you may look at http://tilted.com/ for EQX Chicago. I believe they do management as well as collocation. You may wish to do everything through them. I haven't personally used the, but they do appear to look like a good operation and have a good reputation. HTH.

Perhaps a little more explanation is in order.

We are an application service provider that supplies the auto industry with a Project Management application. They use it to build tools overseas. Mainly China. We are currenlty in GNAX in Atlanta and although they have provided outstanding services, our need is to be able to supply good connectivity to users in the Mid-West and as well as users in China. InterNAP seems well suited to do this.

Our intent is to initally obtain space in Equinix inChicago then, build out in the Equinix DC in Hong Kong. The final step is to add a server in 365 Main in CA which will keep the servers in HK and Chicago in sync with one another. This will allow Mid-West users to access Chicago and China users to access HK all the while letting 365 Main keep everybody on the same page.

Seems complex. Wish there were a better solution. However, as InterNAP is in all three places with a quiality network, I belive they would be best suited for what I am trying to do.

That being said, Tilted, would not suit our long term needs.

The following "national" managed service providers would be able to cover both Equinix Chicago and 365Main in San Francisco (i.e. they have personnel in the city, or even in the facility, for onsite issues):

OpSource
SevenSpace (now part of Sun but they support non-Sun environments)
Totality (now part of Verizon after the MCI acquisition)

For just Chicago, other possible options are:

onShore
FastRoot

Be warned that these will all be significantly more expense than somebody like Rack911 or ServerWizards.
