Wreckless things you did as a Child / Teenager

I want to hear your stories of doing really dangerous things for no aparent reason as a child or teenager.

My story starts with a visit to my best friend Jason's house. Jason was a cool kid, and he played drums. We started messing around with his drum kit and then his parents left to go have dinner with some family members. Both Jason and I were 14, and Jason's parents trusted him to not screw anything up while they were gone.

The moment his parents Left, Jason said "Hey, I've got somethin to show ya". So, he went into his room and pulled out this homer simpson doll. We were both big fans of the simpsons, and I guess he thought I would find it to be cool.

Then Jason got out his hockey stick, and started batting it around. This was cool for about 15 minutes, and then jason got another idea.

"Hey, let's set it on fire, and batt it around"

"Yeah!" I replied.

So, Jason and I walked into his backyard, whipped out a can of gasoline, and set homer on fire with the aid of a grill lighter.

We played around with homer for a while, and everything was a lot of fun. Then I asked jason a question:

"Hey, do you have a supersoaker?"

Jason replied "yeah".

I went on to explain the idea that had just sparked into my mind. The idea involved filling the supersoaker up with gasoline, holding the grill lighter up in front of it, and firing the super soaker thus sending a stream of fire out onto the select target.

So, jason and I put my plan into action, and began firing at the now crispy homer doll.

Then Jason and I got an idea to just set the ground on fire. So, we walked out into his yard, poured some gasoline to the ground, set it on fire, and then walked away.

Then Jason remembered having an earlier experience screwing around with hairspray and the grill lighter.

So, we did this for about an hour, and everything was fun. My left hand was soaked in now dried gasoline, and I picked up the grill lighter to just look at the tiny flame. However, when I lit it, the flame wasn't so tiny. My left hand immediately caught on fire, and i just flipped out, and beat my hand on the ground repeatedly.

14 year old mikey: "Alright, I think that's enough."
14 year old jason: "Yeah, we have to get the burn out of the patio".

I looked over at the patio, and it was burnt heavily.

Me and jason worked hard at cleaning off the patio, but it wouldn't come clean. Jason's parents eventually came home to see how much we screwed up. Of course, I was blamed by Jason's parents, and wasn't allowed to come over ever again. My parents came back to pick me up, and my parents believed that jason was to blame, and he was banned from our house. I guess everything worked out for the best. Neither I or jason were directly punished.

What insanely dangerous things did you do as a child / teenager?

Still am a kid, so plenty of time to make some more mistakes. -- What, you think I'd tell you? Like I need my father randomly browsing the site and noticing a couple of my posts.

I'm a good kid *nods*

I was a pyro in my days. I used to start small controlled fires and burn things, nothing that ever got out of hand though.

Out lighting fireworks in a huge empty parking lot with some friends of the Fourth of July. A straggler (the extra person that isn't anyone's friend, but some how still manages to hang out) decided to light of his homemade pipe bomb in a dumpster.

The lid of the dumpster damn near blew off and we ended up running from the cops back to my best friends Grandma's house. My mom was there (we were at a party) and we were able to convince her to tell the cops, if they rolled by, that all of her kids had been there the whole time.

The cops did roll by, she gave them our story, and then proceeded to chew me out for what happened. I explained it was the straggler, we kicked him out, and that was that..... Boy was that a loud KA-BOOM.

I also lit my thumb on fire while screwing with fireworks. Pretty much every Fourth of July during my teenage years was spent being wreckless. Somehow I survived.

I robbed a guy at an ATM at gunpoint.

Well, it was my hand in the pocket.. and it was a dare.

But the guy didn't know that.

He peed his pants right in front of me. Then I ran off as fast as I could.

(And no, I didn't take any money.)

I had no fear, because I knew that if I did get caught, the most I would get is a slap on the wrist since I was only 15 and there was no "gun", etc.

Kids!

The worst thing I've ever done is called somebody a 'naughty name' as the teacher put it in primary school. They decided to tell the whole class why it was bad but never mention any names.

The only other thing I've done bad is not having a Maths teacher at secondary school for 2 months, then bringing one in and wondering why some of us couldn't do what he was asking (formulas) and so he decided we weren't trying and gave a group of us detention each lunch time until we got it (without his help).

He was subsequently sacked.

[edit]
So you see, I live a pretty sheltered life. Lol.

PS: mrzippy - love your gimme a buck site.

When I was about 13, we got some fireworks for the fourth, but the local cops were cracking down on using them. It was raining as night fell, and we decided to stand just inside the garage door and light some off. First up, Roman Candle.
This was a very residential nieghborhood, and houses were right next to each other. Dumb for sure.

Just as the first ball came shooting out, a cop car turned the corner of our street. We panicked, and ran into the basement with it...while it was shooting 1" balls of flaming sulpher, and they were bouncing off the walls shooting sparks.
We stopped to marvel at how cool that looked.

We suddenly realized the house would likely catch on fire pretty soon, and managed to shove it into a half full sink and drown it....eventually
My brother wanted to light another one.
Idiot.

Ever had a dud 3" mortar land two feet behind you and blow up?

The cool part is that I did have cool patterns on the back of my legs for a while.

As a child, my parents were constantly on my back telling me what to do, how to act, what I should or shouldn't do. In that case it was quite difficult for me to ever escape from their advice, and I never had the chance to do anything crazy or wild.
Although there was incident I vividly remember, we were visiting my grandparents up in Oregon, at their farmhouse, and for some reason I jumped off the roof with an open umbrella. As odd as it may seem, the umbrella did make some difference! I floated a bit, but then just fell hard to the ground. Fortunately I never broke anything. Other than that, the worst thing I ever did was stealing mail from my neighbors.

I can't say what I've done as an adolescent for fear that it would shed new light on the closed case. O_o
