Google Checkout is here! [merged]
I'm not sure if it was posted here, although I did search and did not find anything.
Enjoy!

And probably won't. It's intended as a way for AdSense advertisers to accept payment from their customers. The fee structure for merchants is even based on their monthly AdSense spending.
Since at this point the only way to make a purchase through it is to use a credit card, and both AdSense and AdWords accept credit cards directly, there wouldn't be anything to gain by offering it as a way to make payments to those programs.

Its a shame that at the moment they are only open to US card holders. I need to get away from PayPal!

So they decided not to call it Gbuy, oh well.. Checkout, bleh, too plain. At least GBuy has some kind of *ooomf* in it.

I've signed up as a vendor, and so far I am impressed with the interface. The deal is you get $10 off transaction fees (2% + .2 I believe) for every $1 you spend at AdWords. So, if you have a huge budget already with AdWords, it essentially means free CC payments -- and, their fraud protection is supposed to be better.
Considering what PayPal alternatives like 2CO charge per transaction, Google seems to be a much better deal for small numbers of transactions.

I figured I could use gcheckout for free when I look at my ebay sells and current adwords payment. That is if anyone will actually use gcheckout. Using gcheckout will not be a big deal since I (hopefully) will be able to use the same checking account I have setup for paypal. This account is setup in its own account, just in case...
