Removing service banners without recompiling the packages

How can we remove the service banners without recompiling the packages on WHM/cPanel server? Banner grabbing is one of the foot printing phase for the attacker to find out the running services and their versions before he could attack with the service specific exploits. How can we remove or edit the service banners without recompiling packages?
