Possibly getting a new computer -- Compatibility issues!

Hey there,

As some might know, I tend to complain about my old amd2500, 512mb ram, T-41 (just try looking it up) vid card, etc. I'm doing some research and here are the current specs I'm looking at:

Pentium D 805
Asus P5WD2-E Premium (Intel 975x)
2GB of ram (1GB x 2) ready for dual channel. Preferably of decent
quality, not the value kingston. Corsair, perhaps?
nVidia 7900GT
250 GB HDD SATA I

My question is, these seem compatible to me, but, hey, I'm no expert when it comes to exact compatibility. My questions are:

What sort of PSU should I be looking for, and what are the names of some quality providers. My friend bought a cheap one, a few weeks later his mobo shorted out -- good times, I assure you.

Does an onboard sound card really make that much of a difference (gamer here!) or does the one with the mobo do just fine.

Preference on a tower and fans? My room gets quite warm, and it's not in the best of locations (the tower). Near the wall in a semi-closed space but it's the only place it'll fit.

Anything I'm missing? Let me know, and I do appreciate any help I receive.

Why don't you get PD 940? Get OCZ OCZ Platinum Edition 2GB Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory.

Powersupply Enermax 500-550W Power supply.

Case Antec LifeStyle SONATA II.

Asus P5WD2-E has an excellent builtin sound card.
