How do I find a good web designer for my website?

How do you usially search for a webdesigner? If u ever required a site maintenance, do you always go to the same designer?

It probably depends on how much you want to spend. Freelancers generally charge less than larger design shops.

I'd say it's a good idea to have the same person/company who designed your site maintain it, though if you decide to go with someone like PixelBrick for a fabulous design you could always have someone else maintain it on the cheap.

If you need a new design maybe you should hold a contest at these forums, or other forums.. That way you get what you are looking for and you have a choice between several designs.. I am sure there a lot of good designers here..

On a related note, We've been thinking about asking PixelBrick for a quote. What would you guys guess would be around what they ask for? Designs like they do can't go cheap.

to find good designers, go to graphics design forums, and check out people work there. There are some extremely talented people that just aren't noticed.

Excuise me for changing a theme.

I have just looked at succesfulhosting.com and saw their hosting plans. I cant understand one thing. Where do companies with expensive plans get their customers?

Look at this:
150MB Space
Unlimited Email Accounts
Unlimited Hits
» $13.29 «

U can get the same thing for as little as $6.45 (or even less) - halfprice . I am just wondering how do u get the clients?

When a customer signs up for a similar account for $6.54 do they get 24/7 live and personalized support ?

We really don't consider our plans expensive. If you take a look at 1000 hosting companies we'd probably come out at the lower end with our package pricing.

We target small and medium sized businesses and this target market IS interested in paying a premium for killer support.

If you charge $6.45 per account you're not going to be making much dough and you'll have to cheap out on your customers with lesser service and support.

If you're planning to to compete on price there is a good chance you will not make it in this industry.

$5K is not that unreasonable these days. If you're looking to save money I would suggest you use a site like www.elance.com .

I hosted with SuccessfulHosting for about 10 months until I recently moved a site from there to my new reselling account. It wasn't that expensive and I didn't need a ton of space. Anytime I asked them a question I usually got my answer no more than 10 minutes later.

That is what I am saying! I have an account with a UK based company and we became like friends with the company owners. During day time they are always in msn messenger and I can freely ask them any question. And I find them really really helpful. I pay just $6.45. for 150Mb 8Gb ASP PHP MYSQL and the rest of it.
