Window Startup Problem

When I turn on my computer my documents opens, and this installer program that I try deleting pops up.. How do I prevent them to pop up when I turn on my comuter.

Start > Run > msconfig

Look under the Startup tab. Uncheck things you don't want to startup, then apply and restart.

http://www.sysinternals.com/ , Look for a program called Autoruns, just about the greatest program ever made.

That'd be for the installer problem... For the my documents opening that'd *hopefully* clear up when the installer stops trying to run at boot or, well, the only other links that I have handy for that are these (sometimes the first and sometimes the second):

Fix "My Documents" opens on boot:
See line 255 / Right hand side
Troubleshooting Windows XP, Tweaks and Fixes for Windows XP:

(Thanks to Kelly MS-MVP)

System32 Folder Opens When Logging on to Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;170086

Usually the opening of the folder automatically will get squared away after the installer cleanup utility's been used to clean up the faulty installation application. Sometimes not though, for the record which application's still trying to install itself?

I'm afraid there's nothing left to do but kick it. It's a matter of personal preference but I prefer the side of the tower (unless your PC is really old and is a desktop profile) but to the left of it so that a good square kick will be right behind the motherboard.

You're probably a bit skeptical but so isn't your PC. Right now it thinks that it is the boss and in order to get things back to the proper views of authority you'll want to ensure that you teach it and that's the point of kicking it. The first kick may not have the desired effect so you should be prepared to kick it a few times. After a few good solid kicks (try to get your toes up and out of the way so that you're actually kicking with the heel) it should listen to you a bit better and after that you should be able to just basically threaten the PC and it will respect/fear you enough to listen with little argument.

In other words, well, the above fixes are the only ones that I'm aware of other than attempting to find a startup item with a program like autoruns or Mike Linn's Startup Control Panel.

When you installed and then ran the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility was the program that's trying to install on boot listed in there at all? Worse, were any programs listed in there twice as has been known to happen? One of the more frequent complaints has stemmed from the Netcraft Toolbar, if you've installed that then that might be something to look into.
