Looking for a managed host in US - maybe Atlanta?

Right now I've got a handful of servers with different hosts. I have a dual-server set-up with one (web and DB servers) and a single server with another. They're currently not managed, although I use PlatinumServerManagement and that has helped a great deal.

I'd like to bring them all under one roof with a high-quality managed host. I know I'll have to pay a bit more, but that's fine. I need better speed and reliability.

I'm looking to spend around (under?) $1000/month.

Start with three servers - two that talk to each other (web and DB) and another separate one for some other large sites. I would need about a dozen IPs - ideally not consecutive numbers, for SEO reasons, but I can deal with it either way. Fully managed.

I know there's some large hosts in downtown Atlanta, but I don't know if any are very good or if any do full management. Being in Atlanta is certainly not a requirement but it would be kind of nice. Being in the US is a must.

Are my needs vs. price about on target? Where do you suggest I look?

Thanks!

Mickey

If you want real good quality management with a service level agreement to back it, around the $1000 mark is a good price to budget.

As management is also very application specific, what are you hosting on your cluster?

Managed hosting isn't as widespread as dedicated hosting (if you want the provider to actually own/manage the hardware too); so looking outside of Atlanta would be advisable.

Remember when you have a custom application to look after, going with a big company isn't always a good idea, neither is dealing with a company that offers "off the shelf" management packages. Everyone's needs are different, therefore I'd reccomend you e-mail around for some quotes.

Good luck

Dan

I'm not as concerned about managing the applications, but just the server itself. I'd like something like cPanel on it so I could add sites and stuff easily, but I'd want the company to handle security, backups, reboots, etc, and help with any other software installations (stuff like ImageMagick or whatever) that I would need.

The sites are just PHP/MySQL based, some with vBulletin and a lot of custom PHP around it.

I'd like them to own the hardware, yes.

Managed don't sell managed services funnily enough, and they just sold themselves to one of the worlds worst webhosting companies (WebHostPlus).

Sure, that just sounds like basic day to day management with a few extras to me. I'd highly advise against using cPanel however, it's one of the most unreliable panels in our experience, and we're soon to finish our migration away from it. It has a reputation for breaking itself.

There's plenty of managed hosting providers lurking around these boards, take your pick ...

That's the kind of info I'm looking for.

I'm willing to listen to anyone. Three servers with Dual Xeon, 2 gigs of RAM, smallish SCSI drives, nightly backups, managed, around $1000 a month. I'm open to PMs or e-mails.
