Samsung DVD-ROM

I have a Compaq Presario with Samsung DVD-ROM SD-616E. It can't figure out what is wrong with it. It reads nothing. It can't even detect when you put a cd or dvd in it. When i download the right drivers for it from Samsung. It says that this driver is not for this product. I think i know what caused the problem. My computer only has two drivers. But out of no where i have a third one called "VOBID InstantDrive CD SCSI CdRom Device".

Your computer only has two drivers? Awesome.

How did you manage to get it running with that few drivers? Most computers have hundreds.

Yup that is probably the problem as cdrom it is basic a generic cd driver that runs them all. It is possible a virus could do this I would uninstall drivers see if that works if not format and you will be fine.

I think you have misunderstood me. I mean i only have 2 cd/dvd drives. Not only 2 drivers. I would rather not format. If i uninstall the driver who would i reinstall it?
