need help with getting rid of red x

Alright, I just reformat my window 98 computer. Now I am seeing that red x in the chat. For 6 years, I knew how to get the chat to work.
I had to do 'start' 'run' but the problem is that I don't remember the program I type in. Every year, I would do this when I reformat my comptuer. A black box would come up. I would type something in there. And then run the chat and it would work without the red x coming up ever again. That is until I reformat my computer again.

I can't seem to find anywhere online how to do this. I had to reformat my computer yesterday or the day before yesterday because I had the exsplorer or esxplorer virus.

What was the name of program I must type in the run box to get the chat working? What is the direction to do this?

I have no desire to upgrade my computer from Window 98 to any other windows version. Is there another website that will offer support for Window 98 when microsoft stop offering support?

Are you talking about the WHT web based chat? You probably need to install Java (http://www.java.com).

I didn't know there was a WHT chat. I just try the chat and it work.
I never had to download java because I used to know how to get it done through window 98.
Why won't the WHT chat work in Opera browser? What do I need to do to get it to work in Opera?
