Hi Oninuva,

Firstly, I hope you are aware of the implications of running not just a hosting business, but in essence, a business. The legal implications, financial responsibility and personal responsibility & obligation you have to your clients.

Secondly, you need to do some manual research first and get an idea of what you have in mind. Shortlist your ideas and possibilities. Then you should make a post and ask for advice on your shortlist...

Have a set of questions ready. No formula exists that will work for everyone. You'll need to come up with your own, and the questions you ask the potential hosting company you go with, should be based on your unique formula. Find a niche and go with it. You simply can't please everyone...

Good luck with your search

Hi, I was in this position a few months ago, I was starting my hosting company, lots of questions, few answers... but lots of opinions. A good place to start is here: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=516601 all the different stuff you can use to run your site.

For my business I am using:
cPanel with Fantastico Script Installer
ModernBill
Help Center Live, but will switch to Kayako at some point soon.

My server is hosted with NDChost, but our next server will be with Host Dime

Also you'll want to check out all the legal stuff like Stealthdevil said, but also a big thing is the HUGE amount of your time that will get taken up in running a hosting business!
If you want to talk to me add me on msn, address is in my sig And good luck!

Welcome to the forums oninuva. I take it you mean what hosting company your going to be a reseller for? If so, that really depends greatly on your business plan and your niche market. There's a lot to consider so start doing some research. Also consider what type of a host are you going to be? A $1.98 fly by night host or a say $9.00 to $15.00 host, someone serious about their business and helping their clients and ready for the long haul.
My personal opinion would be to start with someone offering H-Sphere, I know it's not the most popular here, but it's a good, solid and complete system.
Just my 2 cents worth, good luck.

Another quick idea, if your looking to do reseller, get a VPS server with a good host, where they manage it, or if your knowledge of linux is up to it, get an unmanaged server, its a great starting point, and its what I used to get my company off the ground. It also means you can't loose customers due to someone elses accidents

My advice is to use the search here at wht. Rather you go with a reseller option or a VPS provider make sure you search for reviews here at WHT before you sign up, you will learn a lot before making a big mistake!!

Think about using the seach on here, you never get any answers, just what everyone thinks. when starting up a business you need to know all the laws, insurence, and you need the opinions of others but only once you know your going to do it.

Go into your business venture expecting to be successful only after 12 months and you will have the right mindset to succeed.
