Looking For: 2GB storage + 20GB/mth
I am currently with godaddy hosting, but I experience terrible slowdowns with that company. I mainly run a SMF forum on my website with 50users maximum online at once. This is what I'm looking for:
Budget: $5.00 USD/mth
Storage: 2GB
Transfer: 20GB
Other: Good server speed (not oversold).

If what you were getting from Godaddy was 20GB/m for 5 bucks, no wonder you had slow downs. If you think you need that type of space and transfer and quality, then you'll need to raise your budget.

Maybe you want to pay a little more to get better service. Also do you really need 2GB of space? Most webhosts offer smaller plans and when you need more resources you ask them to switch to a bigger plan.

Other: Good server speed (not oversold).
However, oversold does not mean bad, slow, high downtime or unreliable, just that the servers is oversold.█ Shared Web Hosting - Reseller Hosting - Semi-Dedicated Servers - SolusVM/XEN VPS

Sure there are plenty of hosts offering 2GB under $5 but I highly doubt their reliability. I would say either raise your price or lower your requirements otherwise if you still want to go with such hosts, I would suggest doing extra research, read reviews, look for money back guarantee etc and make sure you contact their support few times before making any commitments. Also make regular backups of your website, and ensure that you make only monthly payments initially should secure your consumer's benefits.

It's not impossible to find such a packge. And if you do your homework, you won't have to give up good customer service.

In any case do your research on any host you opt to go with before hand to prevent being stuck moving around alot (unless you're not too worried about having to move the site(s)).

Thanks for the reply everyone! It seems like I'll have to up my price a bit. Any ideas of wheter siteground would be better than godaddy for server speed? or are they equally as oversold?

Leaf, you may want to go read this article. Overselling is not the end-all be-all of what makes a host good or bad, fast or slow. But the topic is crucial to comprehend, so that you aren't surprised by the results of buying into a highly oversold environment.
I can tell you right now that siteground is rediculously oversold, and I don't think you'll get anywhere near what they're promising you at $5 per month. Heck, you wouldn't get that with most hosts at $50 per month.
Take a look at the established hosts out there and you'll soon realize the discrepency between what you're about to buy into and what can realistically be delivered.
All the best of luck, though,
Trip

I agree with Stephen. You may get 2 gb for under 5$, but that won't be reliable. And with a good user base, why don't you think of alternate means to support hosting costs, like placing ads or forum posting?
