You are right -- that story is disgusting!
Its amazing and so sad that a mother can give birth to a baby then abandon it to die. Thats why I am glad my state recently started a safe drop-off program, too. At least now there is an option so that the innocent baby gets dropped off at a safe place rather than left in a dumpster or a toilet.
I dont think the woman in the referenced story would have taken advantage of such a program, but at least now for many babies there is an option available that can save their lives.

Yes this is said but we have these down here also. They are called safe place and you can basically drop of a kid anytime and no questions asked. I guess even though it is said it is better then just dropping it off in a dumpster.

This was actually one of two incidents in the bay area. Another baby was left in a dumpster in Polk County, which is just North of us. We've got some real scumbag parents here.
