CPanel MySQL Access Host Hacking?

Hi,

I am happy with my hosting company. But, repeatedly an ip address is getting added to the Access Hosts of the MySQL Databases option of the cPanel. I don't know how somebody can do that without knowing my cpanel password. I never tell my cpanel password to anyone or store it any where.

I keep on removing it. I cannot block this ip address, because the added ip address ends with .% (Wild Card). To block an ip address, I need a specific ip address.

Can anyone help me understand the situation.

Thank you

Your host may be adding it, or even your host may be compromised.

Make a backup of your data before something catostrophic happens to your account and change your password, as someone may of guessed it.

How does knowing the ip address that's been added will help us. I am only hesitating to give the ip address

I changed the password everytime the ip address was added. It is not easy to guess.

That's an INTERNAL PRIVATE IP address. Which means it is only for interal private networks. That is not an external/public IP address - Don't worry about it, it wont do any harm.

Yeah and don't forget that the host can setup the access hostname in WHM.

It should not affect you . Usually your host may add internal private IPs of the network for remote acceess/backup/administration to database. It will not work outside of the private network.
