PC inventory software

We have about 250-ish computers at my office. As of now, we are using an Excel spreadsheet to inventory them. While it's nothing fancy, it has gotten the job done. Now that we are about to overhaul our technology in the next year, we want a program that will automatically collect data (hardware specs) and allow us to create reports. For example, show how many computers have less than 512MB memory, or a hard drive smaller than 40GB, etc.

We are looking at Track-It! software but wanted to know if anyone had any other recommendations. Thanks for your help!

Belarc's Belmanage is a great product (but a little expensive), I have also used HP's Openview products in larger settings.

You could always port the spreadsheet over to Microsoft Access. Heck, in the template section in access, they have asset tracking, inventory control, and others. (Plus more free templates on the website.)

I remember we took a hard look at trackit software several years ago at my old job. Since it was that long, I don't believe providing an opinion would do much good, as I'm sure the software has changed since I tested.
