I have been with this company for a few years. Recently (in the past 6 months) they have been purchased by a new company. I remember reading once a long time ago that if your hosting company gets bought out by another, RUN, don’t walk. I should have taken that advice.
I have to tell you guys that the Migration was a nightmare. If I thought it would help I would post all of my documented phone calls with them. I was on the phone with them on average, once a day for at least 30 minutes. It was ridiculous. They got so far behind that there canned response for having anything fixed was increased from 48 hours to 7-10 days. Things have settled down quite a bit but there servers are slow as smell and there systems are always failing. (no ftp one day, no email the next, etc) They will never give you a direct answer. I could go on and on about them but I will leave it at that. Consider yourself warned.
There are plenty of hosting companies out there. Avoid ReadyHosting like the plague.
If you want to know more, just ask. There is plenty.
Happy hunting

By any chance, have you ever asked them to be moved to another not so over loaded server?

this is not good, personally non of my servers i would even think about overloading, as it does not look good on customers, and they may one day decided to leave.
Personally i think if your host is overloading their servers, you should look else where.

Readyhosting, I would have never guessed I would have been better off using a free service. They are a complete joke and that is about the nice thing I can say about them.
There service is non-existent. I can honestly say I never had a problem or question they could answer. It was amazing to learn how bad their service department is.
What takes the cake, after I finally cancelled all my accounts they continued to charge me even though I wasn’t even hosting a domain with them! The told me they where providing me a services and could not credit my account for the time between when I cancelled my account and called back to see why they were still charging my credit card. The lady told me in a smug voice that they had been providing me a services, when I asked what service? Since I didn’t even have a domain on file with them, she told me “well I don’t know that is your problem!”
Also their up time guarantee is a joke as well, my site was down for 5 days straight! It is pretty hard to have 99.9% uptime when your site goes down for days at a time.
If you own stock in this company sell! NOW, consider yourself warned!

I had the same problem. They kept charging me even after I requested the account be closed 2-3 times. They kept insisting I "had" to talk to somebody before I was allowed to close the account, wanted me to take some sort of survey first. When they finally cancelled 2-3 months later, they told me I would only be refunded a "portion" because I had already "used their services" past the renewal date. Of course, the account was empty. My credit card company reversed the charges in full. RH can go to you-know-where. Slimy people in charge of that place these days. This was rather recent.
I quit using them in January, after they ruined all my sites during the migration, and could not figure out DNS. One of my first posts at WHT outlined that miserable experience.

At least they are consistant….
kpmedia,
Same story here, cancelled the account in February. They kept saying I had to do this and that and talk to so and so. All of which I did and then they still charged me for an account with no web address. Funny how they happy to give me service for an account that did not exist.
I will be getting my full refund as well! Thanks for letting me know this seems to be their new business practice.

It's written in a post here at WHT, from several months ago.

I heartily concur with the comments regarding poor service, canned answers, and domain management.
The transition back in January 2006 was a nightmare. I hosted over 15 sites with them and every single one had a transition problem.
During this time, I became so dis-enfranchised, I struggled to move my domain management to GoDaddy, so if needed, I could move customers to a new host. Each request for domain unlocking was a long give and take ticket of "why don't you love us", "what can we do to help", blah-blah-blah.
Even when told directly what they could do to keep my domain business, they were unable to provide support.
My current crisis is with my own reseller account that's been down or not responding every day for the last 10 or 11 days. Could have been sooner as I don't check the site every day (Until now).
I've now grown accustomed to begging for assistance. I even tried the personal approach by calling, but I became so red-in-the face angry, I couldn't control my thought processes to work through the problem.
P.S. No oxymoron intended...anyone know of a good windows host?
