10 to 20 minutes here and there is alright but 3 days is a bit worrysome. What's the domain that you can't reach? Maybe it's an issue with your ISP?

my domain is sganime.com
Since I couldn't get datahosts to solve it, I tried to change the DNS server of my domain from namesdirect, but problems never seem to come once, I can't login to their domain management area, it says there server down... geez...

I just left datahosts yesterday. My domains weren't down, but I was not satisfied with their level of support. I'm now at Splash Host and couldn't ask for a better host.

Kray,
why don't you tell them that you are on the FREE webhosting server, all you ungrateful fcks are the reason why, we will NO longer restore the server, the FREE hosting server was down due to maintenance issues and all you ungrateful fcks can go somewhere else.

Hello,
I did say was on a free service on another thread:
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...threadid=40803
I said
Quote:
"Hi elijah,
I'm one of your complimentary (free) user, so far all so good, support has been friendly (hey its free, what more can I ask for).
In fact I had no problems (basically all I need is webspace only) for the past months (more than 5) but suddenly my domain sganime.com went down
I'd sent my trouble post in the Datahosts forums but no reply so I later sent a support email to you. Although its not 48 hours yet but I'm eager to know what happened.
I'm not sure is datahosts the problem or my registrar, which is namesdirect. Anyway I can't login to their dns management area...
Please email me back thanks! Its been 1 day down already.
|
As you see, I tried to contact you for 3 days or so but I never recieve any replies that's why I thought you ran away or something.
If you could have kindly notified the free users 1-2 weeks or so beforehand that you will be discontinuing the free service, I would have been most grateful about it.
And I do greatly appreciate your free service these months and you had been friendly. But as I said, I would like to recieve earlier warning that you'll be discontinuing the free service so we can do the DNS changes.
But now I'd ask you a small favour to continue to host 1 html page so I can redirect visitors to another place while I keep on trying to login namesdirect to change the DNS servers.

You shouldn't have to apologize kray.
Datahosts.net sure do have lovely customer support eh? Such a response to your query was very unprofessional and down right rude.
Datahosts.net is one of those hosting companies you run from. As a ex-hostee(even if free) I can say that.
Also, no matter if you weren't paying, a tech support email should have gone out advising of the downtime to come and even in the last 4-5 days you should have gotten a response from them prior to this not-so-friendly one.

I don't think it was nice either, but I guess he's probably recieving complaints from fellow free complimentary Ex-users thus the bad mood.
I finally managed to login to namesdirect domain management area after trying for days from morning till night. Chose mydomain's free service, at least, its temperory to solve the dead domain issue.
Anyway for free providers out there, although you are providing services for free but I hope that you know what you are doing and will be expecting and don't simply cut us off without prior notices/announcements, especially when hosting domains.
Also free means less features but support should still be given. Like if the server is down, transfer us to somewhere, it gives the host more credibility and reliability. If the host wants to cancel free service its okay (at least for me), 2-4 weeks of early notice would be good and I won't have any complains but thanks for all these time.
(sigh)

btw, his email responded to me (sent around the same time he posted here, ie 4-5 days later after my first email to the support) was pretty polite that due to maintenance issues they will no longer provide free webhosting.
However its still not announced in their forums, nevermind I'll post there to let fellow free users know about it.

While I believe if you get it for free, do not bitch. Your post was way out of line!
I am sure that your uncalled for wording will make many want to sign up with you.
How much $$$ to become a grateful fck? Is webhosting talk now rates xxx?
Bear in mind you offered these people free hosting.
