I would agree. For the money, Toshiba has really nice laptops. And they last a good long time too.

For the past 6 months we've been using HP NX6110 notebooks with all of our clients (they come in many different specs), and I have to say they are some of, if not the best notebooks I have ever used. Incredibly stable, stylish, comfortable to use, durable, and quite small too. I know that I have personally deployed about 30 of them and not a single problem yet, so...

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=94788 << comes in at just under £450, and you can easily throw a memory upgrade in there (they are 1x256mb stick as standard).

HP/Compaq certainly has some laptops within your budget.

Good luck

Try ebuyer:
http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...stock&offset=0

I bought a HP NX6110:http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=94788
And a new netgear router:
http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=52244

And it worked out at around £517. If your low on budget id buy a laptop with 256mb of memory and just upgrade it too 512 yourself- thats what i did. If your not sure what will match use the crucial/kingston memory configuration on eBuyer.

I paid about £23 or so for a 256mb stick of some cheapo crucial stuff. Not a bad deal if you were like me - in two minds whether to buy a lappy and dont have a bulging bank balance. Good luck!

Edit: Didnt see RazorBlue - Dans post but still the HP NX6110's are great cheap notebooks

Another vote for Toshiba, they make great laptops. Ram and wireless card should be inexpensive if not included.

My sister recently purchased an Acer laptop to replace her aging Dell laptop. From what I see, Acer makes some nice laptops with an even nicer price tag. The only worry I have is that if size matters for you, it would be best to see a display model in shop first; there are some Acer laptops that are larger then normal and some that are made to be mobile.

Thumbs up for Acer here.
