Question

Host Help Please!

Hi

My friend is looking for a new host, to host her website! However we both really have no idea what information we need to supply in order to look for one! Ideally we would have access to cPanelX like we do now, and have a minimum down time!

The site has a fairly large DB and has alot of visits each day so we would need one who could cope with that sort of thing.

Any help at all on this would be really very much appreciated. We are based in the UK so a UK based server would be good, although not essential!

I have been looking at a site called clook.co.uk, does anyone have any experience or know anything about them?

Thank you all in advance

Do you have a rough idea of the diskspace and monthly bandwidth her site needs?

You have not specified your requirements, But you can look at

Yahoo small business which provides 200 GB bandwidth and 5 GB diskspace for starters.

Almost any host will do if you don't have any special requirements.

You shouldn't have any problems finding a suitable host for those requirements, try a SEARCH here.

There are many hosts, some good, some less so.
Most will give you more than you need for starters for around $7-10 per month.

Check what people say about hosts you consider before deciding.

I can vouch for Eleven2.com being a good host; 3 sites hosted with them, no downtime.

The owner even kept a personal blog during a hurricane in which the data center could of been affected, he stayed behind to make sure things went ok, found it amusing but sweet.

I too would suggest something around 500-600 mb space with 4-6 gb bandwidth. Obviously a package like Yahoo's oversold 5 GB diskspace & 200 GB bandwidth would be overkill for you.

Amount of space and transfer you are using isn't on very high end. So it will be very much easy for you to find any good host. You may want to check out Find a host option.
