I have been seeing alot of MySpace.com adverts all over the place and most of them have been this year, and late 2006. Few questions that come to mind is: Why don't they charge for membership in sections? Also what do you think their annual revenue is? This may be a subject that some may find BORING, but its rather a mystery for me, because I can't see how they got so darn big. Always something to think about with the internet.

Well, considering that myspace was sold last July 2005 for the tune of 500 Million dollars, it must be bringing in considerable revenues.

Wow, didn't even know that. Not really into blogging, more of an issue of greatness. Thats a crazy amount.

Not charging would probably mean they wanna keep their service free!

Understandable. However do you think that a place like or MySpace.com even would start to charge for their service was how I meant the question to sound.

It's mostly teenagers and the younger crowd that uses it, if they were to charge I think they would lose most of there members.

Depends on their business model. Some would go the direction to charge, others wouldn't. I'd say both have equal advantages/disadvantages.

MySpace was bought on speculation and user base, not an actual revenue (same as skype). We'll see how it performs in the future.

That alot of money to shell out for user base, however I am sure they make a ton off of adverts.

Personally, I don't see a very viable business in MySpace. I'm not sure what the current owners plan to do with it, but I guess we'll see. In general, though, that crowd just isn't the most profitable. Advertising seems like the main way to make their money.
