So I'm going to send my server off be co-located a few hours from my location, but before I do, I'd like to install some tools that I'll monitor the hardware. Any recommendations. The server is a dell 1650, if it helps.

Well, since it's a Dell, you should be able to get OpenManage installed on it. Look it up on Dell's support site. Just enter in the support tag and you'll find it quick.

You can also use cacti. It has several addon client packages.
