hostdepartment.com

Hello,

I recently (yesterday) signed up for premium reseller hosting plan with hostdepartment.com. Does anyone have any comments about this hosting compnay?

If you have negative comments, can you provide me with an alternative suggestion. One thing to keep in mind, I need the ability to offer windows and linux hosting..

Thanks in advance.
Luke

P.S. I wish I would have found this site before I chose my hosting company.

Your best bet is to get Windows from a good reseller hosting company and Linux from a different one. There aren't too many are popular for both OS's. Just a suggestion. Are you more of a Linux host or Windows?

What your looking for is someone that offers H-Sphere for a control panel. They'll have both Windows and Linux.
Do a search on here for hostdepartment.com and check out their reviews.
You might also check psofts website for a few places that offer H-Sphere. You can find a list of their distributors here: http://www.psoft.net/resellers.php

Actually, just about any (reputable) H-Sphere host can do the job as they offer both Linux and Windows. CartikaHosting.com and JodoHost come to mind .

Hi.

Hostdepartment.com Premium Plan states that you can host UNLIMITED domains but you can create ONLY "50" control panel accounts?! How is that possible?!

Please refer to: http://www.hostdepartment.com/premium_reseller.html

I had an online chat with a sales rep. and he said the same thing: You can host UNLIMITED domains but you can have only 50 customers (clients)!

Please advise.

I believe your question was answered regarding hostdepartment. Furthermore, this is a community, and this thread was hardly hijacked, as posts were regarding the topic. I believe if you start a new thread it will just get added to this one. If you don't feel as your question was answered you might want dig a little deeper into this thread. Good luck to you!

Just as in every thread asking for advice on a company, people don't mind there own business and stay on topic .

Host Department.com is an overall "terrible" company! Hmm... Where should I start!? :
* Support- There support staff are extremely unknowledgeable! They always either copy + paste a message from there knowledgbase, or they have to ask someone else. The telephone support staff are very un-professional (when they do answer)
* Uptime- Uptime is resonable but could greatly be improved. As you can see on your website, it says that they "Guarantee 100% Uptime" BUT... each and everyday they have some sort of issue on every single server. If you take a look at http://www.hostdepartment.com/netstat/ you can see that they now have an issue (4/12/06 5:25pm EST) on there WinBlade server! How is that 100% uptime?
* Refund- They are very terrible about giving refunds. It took me about 10 full days to get a refund from them! They said that they were not able to refund credit cards... a host that doesn't refund for credit cards

You could check out either CartikaHosting or Jodohost. Both are very active on here and both have good reviews.

* Forget about it...

They are the worst. My time will be up in August and I'll be switching elsewhere. Feel free to check out how fast my site loads...with any other host it would take 1 second. All the graphics are optimized. Besides the speed, and site, sql and ssl downtime of the client's sites (not there hostdepartment site like all the downtime meters test), support would be better from a monkey that was taught how to type. On top of it, I'm 99.9% sure all the support is just one guy with different computer generated names. I'd like to see what happens when a few of us chat at once.

Anyway, go see how fast my site loads if it's working now.

...so far I like everything about hostingfest.com except it seems they're not from my country (which limits protection). Anyway, I'm on day 2 of researching them. I've only heard one negative comment and it was a stupid one that in my opinion was the authors own stupidity (but maybe I just misunderstood what he was really trying to write).
