Starting Off On The Right Foot?

I have been reading several websites in the past few weeks about how to choose a webhost. I have read many accounts of customers who thought they would need a large amount of bandwidth, and several powerful servers to host their websites, ended up not meeting their goals.

I have a business I am about to launch. It will be hit or miss. Is it better to start off with cheap (shared hosting) or start off spending the $$$.

How easy is it to move your data from a shared host, to the exact same host, just to a full server? What about switching hosts?

What is your opinion, is it better to start up big and move up, or avoid the hassle and start big?

Start small and addon when you need it little by little until you get to the point you need a dedicated server. Be sure to addon well in advance before you run into speed issues or down time issues. Some hosts, or you yourself can monitor your account and see when your in need of more.

In both cases, some hosts will be willing to do the job for you, so it'll be pretty easy then.

You can do it yourself, and it's not particulary hard, just that it can be labor intensive.

I think shared hosting is the right bet at this point in time, but since it is a business you're looking hosting for, try to stay away from cheap hosting. Get business grade hosting, at business grade prices.

Shared hosting seems suitable for you at this point, when choosing the web host it would be a good idea to check wether you can upgrade your plan easily.

Its pretty easy to upgrade without any downtime, with a decent host. You shouldn't have any problems at all. It also might save you some money testing how a host is with a shared account.
