Question

Problem with FileZilla - please help

I've been using FileZilla for a while and everything worked perfect until 2-3 weeks ago when, for some bizarre reason, I started receiving this message that I can't connect to server. I didn't change any settings and I am the only one who is using this program (on this computer). These are the messages that I see:

Status: Connecting to <host's name.com>...
Status: Connected with <host's name.com>. Waiting for welcome message...
Response: 220---------- Welcome to Pure-FTPd [TLS] ----------
Response: 220-You are user number 3 of 50 allowed.
Response: 220-Local time is now 08:19. Server port: 21.
Response: 220 You will be disconnected after 15 minutes of inactivity.
Command: USER <username>
Error: Timeout detected!
Error: Unable to connect!

I have no idea what I should do to make it work again. I reinstalled the program and it still does not work. I use Passive Mode so it is not from that. The Windows firewall is off.

Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

Try turning Passive Mode off if you already have it on. Sometimes it is the FTP server that has changed settings requiring passive mode (or not) and not so much things you might have done with your FTP client.

Sounds like a firewall issue at your end.

Turn PASV mode off and see how that goes. Does your router support UPnP? and is it enabled?

Thank you very much for the replies.

Yes. Initially I get all the other messages and after about 5-10 seconds I receive the error messages.

I turned it off and it still doesn't work. I receive the same messages.

I have no idea how to check/do that.

What's your router? (Linksys, D-link etc)
