6000GB that is a lot

You can probably get it starting at $400-$600 depending on what spec of server you want. You would also get a bulk discount i imagine

Thats about 600Megabits of bandwidth, you should be able to get that with a larger host

... actually it's more like 18Mbps...

[edit] unless you're refering to all 20 servers, in which case it's still like, 360mbps

No, its not.. its around 600Megabits, because you'll only get about 200GB out of 1Megabit.

No sense dealing with theoretical numbers since thats all they are; theoretical.
I would hope a provider (as your sig suggests you are) would know this.

Everybody always goes on about how 1Mbps is 200GB. It's not. 1Mbps is 300GB. Just because -YOU- move web traffic, doesn't mean EVERYBODY moves web traffic. My MRTG graphs are as flat as pancakes.

To the OP - do a search in the advertiser forum or use hostquote - a cluster of 20mbps servers would do you fine. Might even consider spacing them out in different datacenters.

So why would he need per GB billing then? It will be cheaper to get flat billed 95th percentile, then burstable GB billed.

Obviously since he is requesting PER GB billing, he is not generating FLAT traffic usage and has spikes and valleys, and thus will NOT get 300GB out of 1Megabit.

In all reality, he probably has no idea what he actually needs. Haven't you noticed the trend?

Is that 6000gb of transfer a month or 6000gB of transfer?

What type of burstability to you need? You could get away with a 20Mbps unmetered server if you didnt mind the 20Mbps cap.

It would be 6TB of bandwidth and we would need around 30mbits per server. I think for our price range, we have to go to the overseas for a solution. We are looking for about 20 servers total.

Would a 1000Mb/sec port work for you?
