Need advice on separate mailserver box.

Hi,
I have a cpanel box... A64 3700+/1GB RAM.
from the past days I have noted that EXIM processes are the responsability for growth on load server, but www/mysql/php and other services are OK...

So, I´m wondering about what is the best solution for my case, setup a new box with all services running at the same machine, or setting up a mailserver box only?!?

I have no idea how can I easily setup a separate box for mailserver, and which options are better for me. So what do you recommend? What specs for good mail server?

I appreciate.

Thanks

Before looking to split over the load, why the sudden increase in the amount of email?

What is exim currently processing?

exim -bp

You can view the email body and headers with

exim -Mvh mailid
exim -Mvb mailid

Some customers are sending more than 3000 mails sometimes... and when this occurs the load increases a lot.

Are they valid emails or spam? Also, you should have a TOS if one user uses more than the allowed resources should move to a vps or dedicated... I do not think shared hosting is a proper account to send 3k emails....

Yes, I´m thinking on upgrading these customers for dedicated mail server...

What do you suggest to maintain cpanel hability on creating mail accounts, but at separate box?

The simplest way maybe would be to get another cpanel server running exim only, and setup DNS to point to this new server!?

What would be an appropriate server in these circunstances? P4 2.8GHz might be good?

Thanks.
