cpanel cron remote backup?

Hi,

Would it be possible to setup a cron that automatically created a backup of an account on a cpanel machine then ftp'd the zip to another machine?

I guess this would provide another layer of backup security as this is a very important account.

Can't you use the backup function already in cPanel? I have mine setup to FTP the cPanel backups (.rar) to a secondary server. I'm fairly sure you can choose which users to backup.

Hi,

We already use that to backup to a secondary drive - I'm assuming we can't do both?

Probably not.

If you already have a backup on a secondary harddrive, why don't you make a little script to:
1. connect to ftp server
2. login
3. change to required directory
4. upload existing backup from secondary harddrive
5. close connection

Then could could setup a cron job to run this every night or so.
