Big Server in Europe
Hi,
I'm going to have a website in a month or less. This will be a forum site, with a great number of users.
I won't be surprised if I have 100 000 members total and 3000 members a day. That will (hopefully) be a huge project. This numbers may increase.
Now, I need a dedicated server in Europe.
I know I need a Dual Xeon Server with 4 GB RAM, and 500 GB monthly traffic, maybe upto 2 TB. I'm ready to pay around 600$/month for that, but of course less if preferred
I've considered leaseweb. But I'm unsure, since I don't have enough information on others. Leaseweb seems to be a bit expensive.
I'm not experienced on dedicated servers. Actually up to now I've only had a small web site on a shared host. I have no info on dedicated servers.
Now I have a (thought of a) huge project and it is supported by a big company. So my supporter can pay this much money. But they also prefer less money to be paid, to support me.
Can you recommend hosting companies in Europe for me to have a look at? Not only on the fee, but also on the quality.
And what also can you recommend for a new-bie like me which catched a big fish?
Regards,
harzem

In my experience when you land a big fish you gotta keep a tight grip !
This means providing them with solid service.
I'd look for personal support, rackspace is ok but they are in my opinion too big to
offer personal support. They also guarantee 100% network uptime but as can be
seen on http://www.hyperspin.com/ranking.php?type=3 they current
rank at 99.234%
By personal support I mean not being passed around after someone finishes their shift.
Take a look on www.forum2.co.uk.

No, this is not the right forum to self-promote.

I'd say check out DediPower www.dedipower.co.uk and EliteUKServe www.eliteukserve.net
I've worked with both for servers and had can't fault either.

Thanks for suggestions.
Leaseweb has a "volume" traffic, "standard" and "premium" traffic options. The fees of the other providers tells me that they all use "volume" type of traffic. Up to now, I've never seen different types of metered traffic, apart from 10Mbps of 100Mbps options.
Leaseweb offers "connectivity" for options (that I consider buying):
Volume: 3 TB/pm for € 150.00
Standard: 300 GB/pm € 159.00
I'm not stuck with Leaseweb, but I'm looking for a provider letting me have Dual Xeon 3.0 (or more) and 4 GB RAM, and yet Leaseweb could offer it to me.
Note: Now I'm having a look at rackspace.co.uk
