Veoweb hosting customers please contact me
As every Veoweb.net customer customer knows by now, they have closed down their webhosting service without warning, lost all their customers files and will not respond to support queries, emails, faxes, phone calls or anything. They have caused me so many sleepless nights as they have ruined an internet business I spent so many years building.
They have control of my domain name and will not relinquish it despite nearly 100 emails and faxes to both Veoweb and Netsol.
Veoweb customers could contact each other on their forums, but Veoweb closed those down too a few days ago after it became saturated with customers threating legal action for their sites being down and losing years of work.
Could any Veoweb hosting customers please contact me. You may PM me or write to ceo AT azam.com
Thanks.

I am really sorry to hear about this. Do you know the reason they closed down their service?
It seems like the home page was changed, although the rest of the site is still functional:

Best,

Thanks for your sympathy: feels good to hear somebody's support when I'm practically at the point of suicide (though I never would: can't allow the b*****ds to beat).
I don't know why they closed down. They never told anybody. Sites just went dead a week and a half ago.
I presume it's because their customers started leaving them one by one. Their service was a joke: sites went down at least once a month for between 12 and 36 hours. I had dozens of sites with them since about 1999 and, one by one, started moving them to other webhosts. Pity I didn't get around to transferring all my sites away
I know another guy at casting.gr who, too, has lost many years of work. But can't get in touch with any other customers of Veoweb because they closed down their forum when it became riddled with criticism of them.
I know Veoweb will not co-operate with anything, so I'm now trying to get my domain name off them via Netsol. But Netsol just won't play ball. Anyway, I'm getting ICANN involved as NetSol are the most arrogant, bureaucratic organisation I have come across in my life. Have phoned them about 50 times, sent a dozen faxes and 30 emails, but no joy.
If anybody has any personal contacts at ICANN (or Netsol) please send me a PM, because I have read that otherwise ICANN can be extremely slow themselves.

You should always keep a local backup of your site... even if you're with a reliable host. You never know what could happen.
Tough way to learn that lesson though.

You are right Ariel. I did keep a back-up, but it is two weeks old. Missing countless hours of improvements to the site.
I paid Veoweb extra for them to keep regular back-ups.
But that is not the problem now. They have control of my domain and, no matter what I do (won't bore you with the 200 steps I've taken), Netsol won't give me control so that I can change nameservers to a new host.

That's horrible azam! I hope you find a resolution to this somehow. If they've been around so long, I'm sure there are hundreds of others in the same predicament.

Yet another hosting company out of business,
sorry for your loss, but I think it's time the pointless hosters who just saturate the business with poor quality step aside and close down or turn serious and play it right.

Argh! Makes me mad to hear that some people handle their hosting business like this... I'm not a fan of US-style ligitation, but do hope that they get their *sses handed to them in court. And these domain issues... Surely there's something wrong with the system if a lawful owner can't get hold of his/her own domain.
Couple of years ago I paid a lame webhost to register a domain name. Luckily I escaped with only slight burnmarks and the domain. Lost around EUR 150 because the domain entered "Redemption". Well, my life was really turbulent at the moment, so it was 50% my fault and 50% their billing dept. Lesson learned: I'll never again register a domain from a hosting company (unless they want to give it for free).

1. How do you know they closed down?
2. How do you know that they lost all files?
I was able to access a site I host with them Friday afternoon. I've tried to login into my cpanel Saturday evening and wasn't able to do it. So, I've sent them an email, no reply yet. Today trying to access the site, it shows "suspended due to bandwidth limit exceeded"!?
Their main site is down too.
Some time ago I've received a phone call from somebody claiming that they are looking into buying Veoweb and inquiring about my account if it's still active, etc. That sounded kind of weird, so I've contacted Veoweb and was able to discuss about this up to a point. They didn't appear to be aware of any transactions re. a possible sale.

I have just tried my FTP connection, login came up incorrect, but there is something there answering, and tried my cPanel login and that came up zilch.
I have my sites back up and running so for me they are old news, but I still keep wishing them a little ill will from the UK, nothing serious, just a nasty rash or the like.

So, at this point ftp and cpanel are not accessible. Are your sites running off veoweb, or another host?
What happens with the domain names? Can they be moved?

Moved to a new host, and my domain names are separate, at Network Solutions so just needed to change the nameservers and I was away.
Interesting point to note, to me the host going down is bad enough, but not being able to alter the nameservers for the domains would have been worse, I would have lost web presence, branding and all that.

You should always keep local backups, up to date backups. Paying the hosting company a few dollars extra for backups will not help. Always keep your own backups, no matter who you choose or how much you are paying.
Sorry to hear about your troubles with them.
