Looking for the cheap dedicated gallery server.
Hi, I'm looking for the cheap dedicated server (I'm gallery submitter, 95% of the traffic will be to the static galleries). Now I'm burning +-0.5TB, but I'm looking for the server with max 1TB of the BW (I will grow up), I see some offers on the +-$60 (1.7 or 2GHz CPU/512 or 1024MB RAM/60 or 80GB HDD/1TB BW), may someone offer me better $50 price? or this isn't possible?

You might get some offers if you can manage machine yourself, but I would increase budget a bit to get a good provider. Anyway, you can check offer section to get a list of providers

I'd recommend layered Tech for just your needs. Server will be under $100/month for sure.

In the "Advert/Dedicated and Colo Hosting Offers" forum Is severals cheap offer, I find equonix.com offer for creazy $45, but he Is using Cogent BW (I traceroute his main page)

Well, what did you expect? For $45/mo you won't get premium blends.If you want a good connection, be prepared to pay more.

how bad Is now Cogent?
It look, that all cheap servers (dediwebhost.com) running on the Cogent.
Is Cogent good for my galleries? I heared some stories about Level3 x Cogent. And articles about Cogent fall from the year 2003. Will be run server on the Cogent BW normally, or It's only toy for the child?

Its not bad. It depends where you are using it at. We use it on some machines in Atlanta and have had no problems with it. However, others may not agree.

Well, if you want a good/reliable dedicated server and connection, I would invest something around $150ish. It can be little more or less.
But none the less, research carefully before you choose a host.

amazing that people expect to use 1000gb of bandwidth for as little as $60...i remember a few years back 1000gb would cost 200 for bandwidth from a provider with cogent.
just think how much 1000GB actually costs.... (1000GB = ~5mbps 95th percentile)

Congent isn't bad at all but the problem with them is latency and they peer with alot of other ISPs in the industry. Its good for web hosting but not too good for latency sensitive application, ie. gameservers.
I too have a Dediwebhost.com server and it is also on Cogent. From my SBC DSL connection to my server is only 11 hops which is great for me.
