RAID dedicated servers?

I have been happy with EV1, SM, TP, etc. but have been gradually dropping servers there because I don't like getting raped on raid 1. All I am asking for is a decent RAID-1 setup or even software RAID. SM used to have a low cost RAID 1 but its sold out right now. I'm not willing to pay hundreds more per month for a $49 disk and free software that comes with Red Hat.

Are there any hosting companies in those leagues with reasonable low priced RAID?

TIA

I don't know of too many companies that CAN'T offer you RAID1. Take a look around in the Dedicated and Colo Hosting Offers forum.

I know EV1 and GNAX both offer it.

Just a note of preference, avoid software level RAID is at all possible.

Thanks - but most that will do RAID want an arm and a leg, GNAX I know is a great exception but they charge for 95 percentile bandwidth, I need a flat charge for 2000 GB or whatever. Take a look at EV1 or The Planet's prices. I've used software RAID on dozens of servers for years and actually prefer it - easier to manage remotely and I trust it more, but hardware raid is ok too.

As Sirius said most companies can offer you RAID.

If you simply contact their sales department it's very likely that they can offer you a solution.

RAID is very popular due to the generally adverse effect of hard disk failures.

edit: www.tranxactglobal.com - GNAX dedicated servers with per GB bandwidth.

edit2: also check out www.softlayer.com. They're new but they do appear to be very clued up judging by their superb responses to my pre-sales questions. They offer cost-effective raid solutions, but as Sirius said below cheaper is not always better especially when it comes to RAID. You definitely don't want a cheap RAID card.

Sorry Bubba, but running a RAID setup costs money, money which you'll need to pay in order to get it. Cheaper is not always better, but you'll likely figure that out.

Thanks thats one reason I like to stay with software RAID which I have found rock solid on RHEL over many years on many servers. I can't see into remote RAID cards and don't know what they are using. Last I looked GNAX ONLY offered 95 percentile billing; I will shoot them an email as otherwise I liked them.
