Deleting its directories basically. I would recommend a reinstall though (of the OS).

why do you want to uninstall DA? For installing another control panel?

yes, both cPanel and DA need a fresh OS for installing. But I wonder why you want to switch to cPanel. DA is more stable from my views

I'm changing from reseller account with cpanel to dedicated server. I was trying to move all cpanel accounts to DA, however its becoming very hard. Free script from DA doesn not move ftp accounts, mysql users, htaccess passwords and has minor bugs what made me to consider buying cpanel.

I see DA is stable and fast. However I'dont have whole month to move accounts (about 40) one by one, calling clients if everything works ok. It's nearly impossible to move by hand all accounts without problems. Some of them have internet shops and it would be very bad if sth wouldn't work.

If it was some good script to move from DA to Cpanel I would really swith to DA very fast. However I don't have enough time to write such thing from scratch or improve existing one. I wrote to author of DA-Cpanel conversion tool but he's not replied me.

So I'm going to buy external license for cpanel which really cost much

one thing you need to notice that in cPanel, you can use one user for multiple databases, but in DA, only one user for one database. So, if you have one user for multiple databases, you will need to add other users by hand when moving to DA. I dont see any issue with FTP accounts when moving from cPanel to DA. We have switched more than 600 accounts from cPanel to DA. It's just running smoothly and dont take too much times

where do you get cPanel - DA convert tool? I have contacted Phil several times, and he always responses

I'd stick with DA (two US servers, both cPanel - I hate it. I really do... I cannot begin to describe how much I hate it) and in any case... rm -drf / (always wanted to type that command) then format and fresh install...

Doesn't DA tend to be cheaper anyway?
I feel it tends to be cheaper...

Thank you for answer. FTP accounts actually were copied however they were not visible on DA. I don't know why. One of my client has 30 ftp accounts on cpanel and I couldn't automatically move it into DA.

I got cpanel to DA tool from this link:
http://www.l0rdphi1.com/tools/da.cpanel.import.tar.gz

I wrote to author and wrote it in DA forum (my name=pug123). Look:
http://www.directadmin.com/forum/sho...&pagenumber=10

No one helped me so I gave up. However I haven't bought cpanel yet..
Considering your posts about cPanel I would stick with DA however if it was possible to move my accounts.
On cpanel old server I've got only reseller acount. I managed to add backup feature to cpanel and do backup from it and it seems to be acceptable for cpanel-DA conversion tool.

1) email accounts added properly
2) ftp accounts no added at all to panel (works on system) I don't know where they are
3) mysql user/database - not work properly but you explained this. Anyway I would have to dig my clients scripts and change usrer/database ...not good
4)Password protected directories not work at all
5) Cron scripts not moved
6) Different statistics system (webalizer instead of awstats) which means problems from clients, becouse of lost hits

regards,
mart

I dont really remember cause I had switched accounts in a long time, but from the code, cronjob shoul be converted as well.

For the mysql password issue, you can try this http://www.directadmin.com/forum/sho...iple+databases

the password protected directories... well... I think it should work fine, cause they just need .htaccess and .htpasswd that can be backed up. Are you sure to take a full backup from cPanel server?

I agree about webalizer and awstats, but you can install awstats manually. Of course, when switching system, sometimes you will need to do something by hand

I've seen this thread on DirectAdmin forum : http://www.directadmin.com/forum/sho...&threadid=1619

You should be aware that DA now supports MDir format for emails, with the Dovecot upgrade.

DA is a lot cheaper than cPanel - especially for a unlimited licence. You could do the community a huge favour, spend the money you've saved from not buying cPanel and pay someone to sort the conversion script for you.
