    Vbulletin or IPB?

I have to make up my mind about which one I want to go with. Maybe you guys can help. My forum will be mainly for techys with forums like consoles, OS, Hardware, Games, etc. I also plan on installing an arcade either v3arcade or ibproarcade depending on who I go with.

    Any input please?

I've used them all. Vbulletin has the best reputation security and business wise.

Go with vbulletin, surely wont regret it.

IPB is better, but vBulletin has a better reputation. Try both and see which you prefer.

But they both cost money so, Unless he/she wants to buy both, you have to choose one

No. Invision Power Services provide you with a demo account upon request and vBulletin have an Administration demo. So, no.

I personally like phpBB and IPB. I have many clients using IPB and they seem to love it as well.

I have both vB 3.5.3 and IPB 2.1.4

My choice? I like vBulletin better.

    Now thats alot of threads.

I would advise VB. Mainly because it looks better (In my opinion) - and It has great security.

Neither. I recently discovered MyBB It's basically a free version of Vbulletin, almost identical in every single way, yet I seem to like it better than vbulletin for some of the original features it has. If you prefer support and a larger number of mods, you'd probably be better buying Vbulletin.

vB is the easiest to customize in order to get some revenue off your site. There are dozens of banner hacks available. Google AdSense and forums go very well together $$$.

    Indeed.

vBulletin has the best mod and also a helpful community. If I'm not mistaken, vBulletin was the first to have an arcade mod, so..

MyBB is no where close to vB 3, vB2 maybe, but absolutely not 3.5 'all-wise'! it reminds me of phpbb btw.

It's almost a complete clone, I can't think of anything that Vbulletin has that MyBB doesn't. The only real advantage of Vbulletin is the Support and the huge amount of mods.

We`ve used IPB for several years now. Never really looked at anything else, because we`re happy with what we have. Recently upgraded to 2.1.4. Easy the setup and administer, and reasonably easy to customize. They also have a large modifications community on various sites around the net.

Each to their own I suppose.

Just because it's popular doesn't mean it's the best. Windows is the most popular OS and it's most definetly not the best, just like how mp3 is the most popular audio format, yet it's not the best either. Should I go on?

I agree that windows is not best...
