I have a dedicated server, and i have 1 ip for the machine. The box is used for webhosting only right now and could possibly be used for hosting a gamserver or two if one is requested, im paying $85/mo

Would it be worthwhile to buy a vps server from fdcservers for IRC only
(the $39 one)?

I am looking at this solution because it comes with up to 30 ip's, wich would be good for IRC services such as vhosts and also in the event of a DDoS attack it would be in a totally seperate facility where the webhosting clients would not be affected.

is FDC servers any good?

FDC do not have good ddos protection, also their VPS's are VERY VERY slow and have constant issues in regards too IRC.

If you run say a psybnc you can be waiting up too a minute just too connect too it.

This is what I found a year and a half ago, doubt it's improved since then though.

JVDS was selling IRC VPS accounts there awhile back, although now Rus has sold it, I'm not sure if they're still offering the same quality service they were.
