I run avast and AVG simultaneously. Could they interfere with each other?

None. I've always just used a router and software firewall combo, never had a problem with viruses although I do the odd online scan.

Huh? Are you kidding me?

Avast is so much better than AVG!
Avast has realtime protection - that's saved me a good few times I can tell you.
I like their GUI too.

Now I run a router firewall, Zone Alarm, MS Antispyware (also with realtime protection to stop nasties) and a regular running of Ad-Aware.
I also run nearly the same setup on my old windows 98 computer. Switch MS AS for Arovax AS and Arovax Shield and that combo works perfectly for me.
