What Control Panel? Helm/Plesk

I have been with DEHE for close to 2 months now (do a review later today ^_^ probably after this situation...), and i love there speedy support, and "can i install it for you?" attitude. Though last month i was with linux, but in the end figured out it is just to much of a pain to do most things i need done without remote desktop(underused gameserver, teamspeak/ventrilo, don't start a war please saying that you cant run that stuff off a VPS, and you can, and i only end up using about ~25% cpu, and ~50-60mb ram when my 16 man server is completly full, but it is almost nvr full anyways?!?!) So this month i switiched to windows and chose Helm as the control panel(based on the fact everyone says it's so FAST and is native for windows). Though now I'm starting to relize it comes with almost nothing installed with it (not as it matters, as they will install it for me...). So i was wondering how anybody feels about plesk for windows? As I myself have used it on both win/lin and only complain that it is slower than helm and dosent let you use some things, and not an easy integration with a billing system... And is a very picky control panel, on whats installed (versions) . So what would you do? Stick with helm and get all the stuff installed or go with plesk and save the hassel of installing most stuff (perl, php, etc.)?

Thanks,
Phil Macedo

Hi Phil,

If you like Helm, I would recommend to stick with it (it's always a hassle to get used to something new). As for getting those applications installed: you can always ask our support to do that for you so it won't be a hassle.

Hey Phil,

If i take a windows based system again i go with HELM

it's clearly the best between those 2, but offcoarse that's my opinion.

Regards,

Arno

Some time ago when I started looking for a Windows Reseller Hosting account
I tried Plesk but then I needed to bring to certain customers only Web Services
(not mail).

You know ...certain customers wanted to handle their own mail servers and use
web hosting for faster access.

The fact is that Plesk didn´t allow me to handle this on myself, so I finished using HELM.

Certainly no CP is perfect, HELM is flexible but their menus are SOOO DEEP..
but I will keep it with all its problems (for a while at least). Not to mention that
my provider is a great company certified with ISO 9000...

I agree. The new version of Helm is coming up though and I'm sure that will bring some major improvements when it comes to navigation.

I would say Cpanel, but new version of Helm is too promising. Only the time will tell.

If you don't plan on doing much admin work yourself, why not use Plesk? Doesn't the new version even come with an automatic updater?

I think they even have a gameserver module you can purchase.
