php.ini?

Im trying to install something onto my server. However i get this error.

Register_Globals: OFF - This must be set ON, Installation can continue but you MUST edit your php.ini or contact your hosts and have them change it.

Please assist me in finding and editing the php.ini file.

Thanks Alot.

Do you have admin rights to that server? You need admin rights to edit the php.ini information.

That shd be easy , search for the php.ini, look for the safe mode and set it to on, save and restart your server. That shd do the trick.

probably in

/usr/lib
/usr/local/lib
/etc/

one of them will be the one you actually use

search for Register_globals and turn it on,

Use google to find ways around this there are ways around turning it on for the entire server.

If your server is just for one site, then this is irrelevent, if it is going to be a shared hosting environment, register_globals is dangerous for new scripters.

Hello AgileLemon,

Try the following SSH command:
Code:
locate php.ini
It's usually found in /usr/local/lib/php.ini

type: nano /location/of/php.ini
then type: ctrl w
Type register_globals and press enter.
Change off to on.
Type ctrl o and press enter.
Run: /etc/init.d/rc.d/httpd restart

Let me know if you have any problems.

now its asking for:

Internal Root path:
(don't change if you are unsure)
/usr/local/apache/htdocs

but i get..

The rootpath is NOT correct ( /usr/local/apache/htdocs )
or the installer doesn't have permission to read backend/config.php. Click Back to set a new root path.

Thanks again
