Looking for expensive hosting....
So it seems the consensus is that u get what you pay for... If you pay 5 dollars a month for a lot of features u get crappy hosting.... Well, I would rather pay 10 dollars a month for good hosting with good support.... I'm a newby can anyone point me in the right direction of an honest host... Would rather pay a few bucks more a month/year for good hosting... PLEASE HELP!!!!

Well, you call 10 bucks a month "expensive"! I was expecting a guy who wanted a dedicated server at a couple of 100 bucks/month....
Seriously, you will have no problem finding a decent budget hosting account for around $8-10 per month. Just look around for hosts with a good customer reputation, thus avoiding the bad apples....

Having a realistic budget and spending some time looking into different providers will defienetly give you a good chance of finding a reliable provider. Check through WHT in the offers forum, in banners, or wherever else you can find company sites then make yourself a list of those that you are interested in then do some research on them, search for reviews on them here at WHT, google them, just spend a little why finding whatever information you can on each.

First you need to decide what bandwidth and storage requirements you have. If they are too high, $10 may not even get you a good host.

To go with what has been mentioned already on top of all, you should also be making down to earth projections on your site's usage. Don't think oh that offer looks great and such (say 1gig space+ for $5-6/month). You should be gauging things on what you actually are going to need. Also make sure you pick a host that grows with you as well, so you aren't stuck having to move again in a few months only .

Out of curiosity, what do you expect to get for those $10 in terms of data transfer and space?

Ask any host and they will do an "expensive plan" for you. By the way, what are you looking for? (i.e. operating system, control panel, hard drive space, bandwidth, database) You can find some decent products for under the $10 per month price point, but it depends on what your specific needs are.

On that same spectrum, $50 may not even get you a good host.
There ARE good $2 hosts. There ARE good $5 hosts. There ARE good $10 hosts. There ARE good $50 hosts.
There are BAD $2 hosts. There are BAD $5 hosts. There are BAD $10 hosts. There are BAD $50 hosts.
Moral of story?
Price does not necessarily dictate the quality. Search for reviews, try to get trials or money-back guarantees. A decent budget as you have doesn't hurt either as most likely you'd be paying for a better hosting experience.
There is no fail-safe rule here - with the amount of hosts today, your choices really rely in part on luck.
