ipowerweb dot com is so bad an hosting provider

If you ordered in Jan 12, you will get an email comfirm you puechase and promise will fixed all things in 24 hours.
Then, after 4 days, and after you wait long longtime for their live chat assistant, they will told you"would you like to process or not"
Definatlly no, I will never use Ipowerweb in my life. They service so bad and even they made mistakes, keep you waiting , nobody in this company know how to say "Sorry".

I want to complain to their boss, but they refused to provide me the contact information. So, I post it here, hope it can help other guys to save some time.

Finally, I donot know how such a suck company can be the best in 2003 and fast grow in 2004. Are they cheating?

It's called advertising dollars hard at work. The question is who says there #1, and how much they had to pay them to say it.

Hope your next host provides a much better experience.

A lot of people in this industry need to learn that saying "sorry" won't lead to their instant death. Then again, their "sorry" would probably be fake, and thus valueless.

Better luck with your next host!

That could be the reason or there could be others reasons involved too

4 days is really slow activation.

I have not been able to recieve email from my ipower web account since Saturday (now its Wednesday). I have submitted 2 trouble tickets but did not get any reponse.
When I finally got thru to tech support yesterday I was told that a hard drive failure had occured on my server.
No tape restore should ever ever ever take this long. I am still missing all of my emails for the last 3 days.
There has to be some kind of action I am allowed for this kind of disruption of service. What?

In my opinion, iPowerWeb surely isn't the worst web host. However, I don't like the way they treat their existing customers. If you sign up a hosting plan today and you are stuck to the features they offer today for the rest of your life. If they offer twice as many features 2 months from now, you won't get the upgrade. I used to have a couple of sites hosted by them, but have switched to other hosts.

I wish I read this topic earlier!
ipowerweb is one of the worst of my hosting expreriences.
They have some very rediculous server restrictions which makes their generous hosting space and everything else useless.
But I must admit that my account setup and activation was relatively promt.

They are a bulk hosting provider and they are all bad. I can't believe customers actually put up with this stuff. A little research into their forums or searching on the Internet can lead to a ton of information on these Bulk providers.

Email down daily, Web site down daily, no account activation, 4 days for support, etc, etc, etc.... There're #1 alright.

I guess I am uncertain what alternative to go with. I really need good email and uptime just for 3-5 accounts. Since I have a video production website, I have some large quicktime files of clips and demos of work. Thes files take up about 1GB but I will be uploading more in the future.

I also have 3 other websites, 2 with ipowerweb and 1 with lunarpages. I would like to consolidate all of these into one multiple domain environment with pointers for .net and .org

But I am a little unclear on how to do this. Is anyone else using multiple domains?

When I signed up for my new account it also took them a while to activate, but the service itself isn't so bad, but they still use Cpanel 5 and the last time I checked you needed to contact them to create a subdomain as the Cpanel couldn't do it itself.

Cpanel? I only have cpanel on the first website I signed up for over 2 years ago. The others use Vdeck for me.
Service is not so bad most of the time for me either. But I have had constant Spam block issue due to being on servers where Ipowerweb has allowed spamming companies to reside so a lot of my emails automatically get marked as spam or blocked compeletly until I call ipowerweb and they call Spamhaus or whoever to release the ip address.
    It is a real headache.
And now this. I still have a 4 day gap on no emails that I am still waiting to get back and they are not giving me any updates at all on the situation. THAT is the problem - they are not ever up front with problems for me. No heads up, no server status page, nothing nada. And this time it may cost me money and some jobs for my video business.
If a host comany is going to sell a Dot COM then they should be able to handle business web issues otherwise don't sell .com or host them. But now I rant so I'll stop.

Problem 1: In the day of instant activations they cannot police their activations until someone causes a resource issue. Since most hosts use shared IP addresses a spammer can cause problems with hundreds, probably thousands of email accounts.

Problem 2: The problem is that these hosts have no interest in your business or supporting your web site. They only need you to fill space on their servers and thats it. If you require support, reliability and a passionate experience from a hosting company you would need to choose a smaller company where each and every customer is vital and important.

They are the first host I ever used to host a small fan site I had. MySQL was always down making my forum useless. I had my payment refunded and moved on.

  17. #17
They actually refunded your money? Thats awesome! I think I hosted with them 2-3yrs back with only one domain. Back then they were pricey- charging for every little thing. Support took forever too!

Isn't a sister site of another main site? I forgot what it was. Anyhow I guess they are doing something right, hosting over 350K members. With those numbers, you can't make veryone happy

This is the reponse I got to my downtime and 4 days of lost email over the weekend:

Response (Lee G.) 01/18/2006 07:45 PM Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting iPowerweb technical support.

We do not have a backup of the file(s) you've mentioned for the dates requested. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

I'm totally disgusted! O well, live goes on and moving from one host to another is easy provided ipowerweb is willing to do a backup for you? Do they give you that feature? IF so MOVE

Yes I want to combine 3 domains into 1 hosted site with multiple domains. I am looking into Site5.com... What do people now about it?

  23. Hey

    Hey guys,

I used to have two domains and a hosting account by iPowerWeb....their support likes to take forever to answer and then they pass you around....also the servers were really slow in my opinion, but they usually stayed up from my experience (I guess if I had to pick between uptime and speed, I'd go with uptime). However, I'm another person that isn't too fond of vDeck, so I'm back to cPanel and WHM now

iPowerWeb STINKS STAY AWAY FROM THEM

I signed up with iPowerWeb.com for a reseller account and paid just over $95.—in December 2005. I had to use their online helpdesk two times and the question were so easy. The answers were the dumbest answers I ever got. I decided to end my account with them way before the 30 day’s money back guarantee. After 10 emails back and forth I still do not have my money back. They are so quick with taking your money but fail with their promise to refund your money while they say We offer unconditional money back guarantee on our hosting services” NOT NOT NOT just do not go there they suck.
It is a rip off !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just signed up to transfer to Netfirms. But Ipowerweb has not changed my names servers pointers yet.
It they will not do it how can I make them? There is no option in cpanel to do it.

When you got your domain name did you recieve a login to manage that? If so you have to login and change your name servers yourself. For example if you registered your domain name at Godaddy you have to login there. The place where you got your domainname is called the registrar but could be the same as your hostingcompany. In cPanel you are not able to change your domain DNS.

Once your new DNS settings are working I strongly advise you to do a transfer to a registrar where you can manage your own settings, I like to use godaddy for that, works very easy.

Has anyone cancelled their hosting with iPower but kept them as the registrar? I like their free ContactPrivacy offer and OpenSRS isn't all that bad.
