trouble with resellerzoom

I have a reseller account with resellerzoom for almost 1 year. I was very happy with their service until 1 month ago I had a problem with my online photo album.

It is coppermine scripts and I have trouble uploading photos. I often got "500 Internal Server Error" while trying to upload.

Email their tech support. After they did some testing, and told me that that upload.php using too much of server resources, and was terminated. Reason given below:
This is happenening because we have resource limits per account on all our servers. Intermittent 500 errors mean that your script(s) are using too much server resources and when it hits the limit, the processes are killed giving the 500 error. This helps prevent scripts from overloading our server and ultimately crashing. The details are given below.

#######################
Sun Jan 15 08:11:36 2006: livy using 18364 KB (~17 MB) Memory
2648 - livy - 21.7 - 0.8 - 18364 - 00:00:01 - 00:08 - R - /usr/bin/php upload.php
Sun Jan 15 08:59:52 2006: livy using 17328 KB (~16 MB) Memory
17012 - livy - 48.0 - 0.8 - 17328 - 00:00:00 - 00:01 - R - /usr/bin/php upload.php
#######################

So I emailed them again saying I never had problem before until recently. I asked them to increase the resource limit, and was told they could not do that.

I was told have to upgrade my account or optimise the script!

Anyone will be able to help me optimising the upload.php for coppermine? I'll be very happy.

Can I say that they now asking me to pay more to get the photo album to work, which was working fine beofre?

It sounds like they are within there rights to do this. If your script is causing server load problems on a shared server then they need to kill the script to keep the server happy as a whole. You might want to go to the offers/requests area here at WHT and ask for help there in optomizing your script. Or look into a larger account or if financially possible a VPS or Dedicated Server.

I never heard of any problems like that with coppermine. Did you modify the script? or do you have a large number of users uploading?

IMO two are the most likely causes for the change: either an increased number of users on your site, or the host modifying the resources limits to lower levels.

well, I am the only person to upload photo to my online photo album.

My monthly bandwdith usage is < 1GB, which is not a busy website at all!

I don't see the reason to upgrade just to increas the limit they set recently.

finally i got someone to support me.

the coppermine script was installed from fantastico.

What I want resellerzoom do is to incrase the resource limit so that that script can run without problem, instead of charging me more to run it.

Just want to ask around for the comments about the limit they set. Is it reasonable?

Well if the script was in Fantastico and they provide that with the plan they should be prepared to support the scripts. I completely understand a host suspending a process for excess resource usage.

I don't understand a host that offers Fantastico and can't support the scripts in it. Especially in this case, it doesn't appear you are really excessive at all with the usage.

Personally I would feel that being false advertising seeming as you can't use the fantastico scripts, yet they advertise the plan with it.

I read his initial post, perhaps i am looking at it wrong... but I believe his script is using around 17MB memory, I am not sure that warrants the cost of a VPS or dedicated server.

I'm curious as to how big the file being uploaded is and the type.

For PHP scripts, most Servers use a default of 12MB of Memory with a Max. execution time of 30 seconds. Many Hosters have Clients that use Coppermine and I've yet to see the problem outlined by the TS.
