I uploaded a HUGE directory with hundreds of files as ROOT, is there an easy way to change the ownership of the directory, subs, and files to the account that they reside in?

from inside the folder:

chown  -R  owner:owner  *

or from the level above

chown -R owner:owner folderName/

Be careful with wildcards.
Better to use:
chown -R owner:owner ./*
