Okay, I am currently paying around $17 per month for my Virtual PBX System. It comes with 5 inital extentsesion and of course the general features. I was wondering if anyone knew of a cheaper solution, without huge per-minute or setup fees.

Have you thought of buying your own PBX system? That way you won't have to pay the per minute charges. You could probably get a cheap one going on eBay.

Umm... That would be a no to ebay . I am not paying $3,000 (cheaper to pay monthly + minutes)

Simple. Don't even need to pay $3000/mo. Take that P3 you have sitting around, and put Asterisk@Home on it. http://asteriskathome.sourceforge.net/ Its a linux distribution that has Asterisk (the most popular open source PBX out there at the moment) and the Asterisk Management Portal to easily manage it from a control panel. Have a look for yourself.

Then goto a company like Nufone, Voipjet, Stanaphone, etc. and get cheap termination for as low as 1.2c/min.

Cost: Free box, Free PBX software, cheaper rates per minute

Ours is £5 pcm with 9 extensions, but I am presuming you're after a US-based one...
