Successful transfer away from Yahoo!

I successfully transfered 2 domains from Yahoo to Domainsite. (Isn't it amazing that I consider this news?)

I unlocked the domains on Friday morning Dec 30, initiated the transfer from Domainsite on Dec 30 and transfer was completed this morning Jan 5.
I received a confirmation email from Domainsite on Dec 30 but nothing at all from Yahoo to tell me that my domains were being transfered away.
So be warned - make sure that your Yahoo domains are locked - otherwise they could get transfered out without your knowledge.

I also had a tense 6 hours today as the whois (I tried different ones) only gets updated twice a day at approx 2 and 2pm. - so I had no whois confirmation for 6 hours.

After the transfer is completed, did you go to Yahoo and cancel the domain? I heard they will continue to renew, transferred out or not, unless you cancel it.

Yes I cancelled both domains after successful transfer but all I have in my inbox are 2 messages from Yahoo with "Order Cancellation" in the title, nothing in the body, and no indication of which domains were cancelled.

Glad to hear yours went well. I am transferring a client's domain right now, just praying that it goes through. Also, we have to cancel the domain at yahoo? Interesting. After said client cancelled his hosting plan, we are unable to log into the control panel because he no longer has services with them....

Anyway, glad to hear the good news.

You dont even know. I recently sold a domain to a client here on WHT, the domain is a .org wich requires an EPP code for transfer. So, I called Yahoo customer support to try to get this EPP code, then in turn, they told me to delete my account with yahoo and contact melbourneit directly to get the EPP code. So, Ofcourse I did not delete the account with yahoo because I did not want to forfeit my rights to the domain, I tried emailing melbourneit however Itill have not gotten any response.

I will never deal with a "premium service" from yahoo again.
And I am guessing I am goning to have to give my client a refund because I have tried multiple times to contact melbourneit regarding the domains from yahoo with no success.

Yahoo domains is a joke

Yahoo does not play into that much from a transfer perspective. The actual registrar providing the service is melbourneIT.

Now, if that were EPP-based domains... I strongly suspect they weren't...

You do have to cancel with Yahoo first. It's not really a big deal, stupid, but not that bad. You then have to contact Yahscrew customer support to get them to "release the domain to Melbourne". Open an account with Melbourne, unlock if locked) and have them give you your code. Read my other posts for more info.

Damn. I just realized that Yahoo billed my credit card on Jan 3rd - in the middle of the transfer.

Yes, see my post at the top of the thread. The domains didn't expire until Jan 19th. They charged me $9.95 each but didn't extend the registration. Let's see if I can get my $$ back.

Man, this is a shocking news to me. Seems like I am going to cancel the credit card and transfer out as soon as possible.
