Insomnia - what do you do?
No ... Not to get rid of insomnia, but while it has you in its grasp. Are you productive in any way shape or form, or do you just blankly stare into nothingness hoping that your brain will shut off?

I usually either email people, talk on MSN or stare into nothingness. I never do anything mission critical.

Very productive actually, most of the ideas come on that time, i'm also able to solve most of the problems when I can't sleep.

I generally turn on the History Channel and try to get my mind off whatever is keeping me awake (bills, health, kids).

Surfing the 'net (on laptop, in bed) is the kiss of death for me, because it keeps me awake much longer than I would have been otherwise. 
So I usually channel surf, try to find something extremely boring (Weather Channel?).
If that doesn't work, I will take a nice hot shower, which is always very relaxing. Very very rarely is a half-glass of shiraz (wine) necessary. I've never been able to stay awake after a shower and a good wine. 
Hehehehe.....
