need advice

Hi Guys,
I currently run a script which enables users to park domains via cPanel. It's basically a PHP script which creates a parked domain via the cPanel gui.

Therefore, the script will only work on Linux systems which have cPanel.

I want to make the script more dynamic so that it will work on most Linux boxes with any gui.

Is there any script available which is able to create parked domains and add the correct DNS entries? This would enable me to integrate it with my script so that it could work independently and would not require cPanel.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thank you.

Addon domains is a term that cPanel uses, apache just has virtual hosts.

If you are only parking the domains on top of one big one why not just set a virtualhost that is bound to a single ip and have all of the addons resolve to that ip. That way regardless of what domain it is going to they all show the same page.

Then all you have to do is get somebody to write a short thing to add a few lines to the named.conf and generate a domain.com.db file for named.

How do I create a virtualhost like you mentioned? This has to be added to the httpd.conf right?

So all I need is a script that will create a virtualhost and add info to the named.conf?

My only concern is permissions. As my scripts are sold all over the world, I need the script to be able to create virtualhosts on all servers. I do not think php has the right permissions to do this?
