Los Angeles area Colocation
Hi I am looking for a new co-lo provider. Right now I am with Hurricane Electric in Fremont, CA however I live in LA so it would be nice to get a local provider.
I am open to anybody in the LA area as long as they are not in downtown Los Angeles, I cant stand downtown.
I've been considering Level3 in Tustin however I've seen some negitive posts about Level3 on the forum, I've also found Synccast Communications in Burbank and they have a nice move in offer but I've never heard of them or seen anybody post anything about them. I will take a tour and test there systems but some feedback will be nice.
Anybody have any recommendations. I am a small host I only need 1 cab with 2mb service (burstable to 100mb)
Thanks,
Mike

Would be interesting to know also. I'm in LA and have a couple servers downtown, but don't know of any around my area. Any datacenters in hollywood?

Have you look into this?
200 N. Nash St.
El Segundo, CA 90245
USA
Nrsoftware is located there. It's an excellent facility.

You could look at the 200 Nash facility. Plenty of parking and no 'downtown' hassle. I remember awhile ago another DC opened up nearby too? Can't remember the name though.

We used to have some assets with NR at 200 N. Nash, it is infact a very, very nice facility and in very close proximity to LAX with easy access and lots of parking.

365main(from san fran) and Equinix both bought facilities in this same area in the last 6months if I remember correctly.

vendor neutral reseller might be of help
You might want to look at a vendor neutral reseller to help you in your search something like broadbandlocators or k2 colocation.

DC's tend to cluster in areas that are dense with Fiber.
In LA County, that's Downtown or in the El Segundo area.

Hey Guys,
Just joined WHT at original posters recommendation.
I agree with Jaybird, the reason we built out down here is due to close proximity to the old Union Pacific railroad tracks. With basically every major fiber carrier close by it was an ideal location. Unlike some other areas we didn't have to rip up miles of busy streets to get the fiber in.
And like others have said, downtown LA is a real pain with parking, power restrictions, and traffic. Of course the large number of options do lead to some pretty agressive pricing.

I'd look at NR Software or OC3 Networks. Both have a whole slew of Carriers and have access to 1 Wil and Equinix.

Thanks everybody, I went with Synccast. Setup was easy they worked with me on moving from Hurricane Electric in Fremont to their Anaheim location. The speed is awesome, rates are average, tons of FREE parking, several carriers I get a mix form Quest and Global Crossing along with SBC and MCI.
The data center is pretty much empty but I think this is due mostly due to their lack of marketing as a co-location facility. They devote allot of time to streaming media but so far the service is great.
One thing I did notice that was not like other data center was there was no raised floor, however the place has 2 huge air handlers that move allot of air and keep it quite cool.
If you are looking for co-lo in Orange County with a good mix of bandwidth this might be a good place to look. They can give you a tour and answer any questions better then I can. Ask for Dave.
